THE DOWN LOW on our track days

all the info you need right here

What is a trackday?

A track day is an organized event in which motorcycle riders are allowed to ride around a racing circuit (track facility).

We rent out local race tracks , where a road legal or track prepared motorcycle can be used without any speed restrictions. A track is simply a road that repeats itself and allows you to work on a number of skills. They allow us to push the limits of our machines and ourselves with out the dangers, and law restrictions of street riding. EMS services are on hand and within minutes. Coaching is available as well as many other services.

Do I need to have a MC Endorsement or certain skill level to sign up?

You do NOT need a MC Endorsement to ride on the track. As long as you know how to safely ride a motorcycle and are comfortable with all of the controls, you can get signed up for our New to the Track Rider program.

We actually prefer newer riders as it’s much easier to teach good habits and practices rather than to try an unteach years of bad riding habits.

IS THIS a school?

We do NOT offer BRC Endorsement classes. We teach riders that already know how to safely operate and use the controls of a motorcycle. If you are looking for an Endorsement Course check out our sponsor

RIDE ON MOTORCYCLE TRAINING

Any motorcycle over 300cc’s is welcome.

Where are we located?

We are based out of Colorado.

We do events at the following tracks:

Pueblo Motorsports Park, CO | Pikes Peak International Raceway, CO | High Plains Raceway, CO | Heartland Park-Topeka, KS |

Utah Motorsports Campus, UT | Motorsports Park Hastings, NE | Hallett Motor Racing Circuit, OK, | Podium Club at Attesa, AZ

MEMBERSHIP

A yearly membership is required after your first trackday with us. Don’t fret, memberships help you save money on trackdays. It also helps keep our costs low. Win-win for everyone. Click the MEMBERSHIP button below and look at the different types and what is included.

What about GEAR

Lets start from head to toe:

  • You need a full face helmet that is either DOT, ECE, SNELL and or FIM Certified within the last 5 years of the manufactures date. It cannot be a modular helmet. It needs to be free of any damage.

  • A full suit or a two piece that zips around at the waist 180 degrees. It needs to be primarily leather or materials meant for the track.

  • A back protector of some sorts is highly recommended.

  • Gloves need to be gauntlet and cover the wrists so that no skin is exposed. Gloves should be free of holes and torn threads.

  • Boots need to be shin high and cover the suit, leaving no exposed skin. Sport low cut boots for street riding, are NOT okay. They need to come up to the shin and offer ankle protection. They need to be free of any holes in the soles.

what are the differences between groups?

*We limit the number of riders in each group (dependent on track length) so that there is plenty of track for everyone.

NEW RIDER (NR) GROUP

-This group is for 1st time track riders. It is very structured. We limit it to 22 riders and 8 coaches for a 3:1 rider to coach ratio. We pair you up with riders on similar displacement bikes, so a 400 isn't with a 1000M RR and vice versa. We go over track entry, exit, line choice, and rules and protocols of the track so that you can go to any track and ride with confidence. We then dive into The Four Core Habits taught by Yamaha Champions Riding School: Mental Focus, 100 Points of Grip, R=MPH, and the Umbrella of Direction. We also get into the 7 reasons why we crash a motorcycle. Each session is lead by coaches for the AM. If you decide you would like to do the full day, then during lunch break you can sign up for the afternoon. The rest of the afternoon is yours to work on the everything you learned. Coaching staff are there for you for the whole day.

If you need gear, you can add it via the AD-ON section when registering. Please be sure to know your sizing a head of time (we highly suggest going and trying a suit on at the nearest Cycle Gear or Gear shop near you) sizes are in Euro.

Novice Group (N)

- is for riders who have been through the New Rider Program and understand the rules of the track.

This group is lightly structured, we max it at 30 riders and it is geared toward those who are first year track riders . A brief classroom session gets participants acquainted with the track, basic rules, procedures, and track etiquette for the day. Coaches are on hand to help this group in between each session. On the track, coaches will set the are there to help you work on techniques throughout the day. Video laps are available as an ADD-ON. This is a great opportunity to have a coach follow you and then sit down and go over your riding to see first hand what to work on.

EXPERIENCED (E)

-is for experienced track riders that fully understand passing techniques as well as the rules and regulations of the track

This group is a little less supervised and structured than the Novice group. Control Riders observe riding ability and will move slower riders down a group if need be. Private coaching is available as an ADD-ON, as is film laps, and transponder rentals for those looking to improve on lap times.

How do I Move up in groups?

At track entry we have a line of green cones. This is the Review Line. When you are ready to bump up a group, simply line up here at the beginning of your session. A Staff Rider we’ll go out with you for a few laps and review your riding ability. This is not to go flat out. We look at your overall ability. Is the pace there? Is it consistent and controlled? Are you predictable? Are your lines good? Are you hitting apexes? Are you rushing corner entry? Do we fully understand track etiquette and the meaning of all flags? Are you passing safely?

The Staff Rider will bring you back in and either tell you, you are good-to-go, and will proceed to registration with you and get you bumped up, OR, tell you a couple things to work on first. If it’s the later, go out, work on those items and then give it another go.

TECH

Safety is our #1 priority and if we let you self tech, odds are you will miss some thing.

We miss things on our owns bikes all the time. This is a very straight forward process and not overly difficult. Download the Tech Cheat Sheet below and you’ll be good to go.

Do I have to have water and water wetter? Some form of it, yes.

The following are approved coolants allowed at our track days per the tracks:

  • Water wetter,

  • Royal Purple,

  • Liquid Performance,

  • Evans Trackwater,

  • Summit Racing™ Non-Glycol Racing Coolant,

  • MOTUL MoCOOL,

  • Engine Ice High Performance Coolant**

  • **is allowed at some tracks, this is the only option if you are worried about freezing temps. Please check individual track websites for clarification).

WHY? My Org only makes the fast guys or my Org doesn’t check.

When we rent the track we are on the hook for any and all spills on the track. This also means if you go down and spill coolant, the riders behind that hit that coolant are going down, we ALL now have to wait until it can be cleaned and bikes can be picked up. You may possibly end the day for everyone. All this because you wanted to be lazy and not swap it out. Don’t be that person.

Will there be vendors?

Yes. We typically have a tire vendor out, suit rentals available, suspension services or some type of track side support company out at our events. Food is always available either through the track concessions, or food trucks. We always recommend bring food and plenty of water though.

Make sure you read through the details of each event when signing up.

Demo Bikes

Demo bikes are provided through Imperial Sportbikes at select events. These are NOT rentals. These are Aprilia Demo’s.

If you are seriously interested in buying an Aprilia, then you may sign up with them, at their tents, the morning of the event. The demo is for one session. That’s a (singular) session. This is an amazing opportunity to really ride a bike you may have been eyeballing and thinking about buying. However, keep in mind that it is not an opportunity to go out and ride beyond your limit. It’s a test ride and if you wreck it, well, you are now buying it or at least paying to fix it.
If you are a Novice or new-to-the-track rider, lets maybe forgo this thought till you are fully comfortable riding on track.

RENTALS

Rental Bikes are available through Track Addicts Sportbike Rentals. You can rent a bike through them, just be sure you sign up for the event you want to attend (it is not included in the rental fee)
